I am not your average American girl. I am a published writer, a singer/musician, a computer programmer and a truly free spirit. See below for a link to my personal website for my story, photos of me before, during & after, my published writing, and transsexual information and resources.
Oxwood Inn promo
I dearly miss the Oxwood Inn, a legacy LGBTQ bar that used to be at Oxnard & Woodman near Van Nuys. Before the building was razed to create condos, it was home to one of the longest running trans nightclubs: Club Shine in Saturday nights. I was in film school when I shot this as a favor to the club, to Shine promoter Laura, and to all the employees and regulars.
P.S. While the dart sequence was two separate shots, that young lady actually *did* hit the bulls-eye on the first try!

InTheLife: Trans Musicians - Christine
Просмотров 99Год назад
In 1998 I was interviewed as a trans musician by the PBS show "In The Life" sort of an LGBTQ 60 Minutes. Later they came to one of our shows in Los Angeles and shot some of our set. My voice makes me want to cringe, but often the workout of singing hard rock tends to change my range. At least I didn't say anything I regret!

If my little student film can have a trailer, it can damn well have its own BTS montage as well!

If you spend too much time being unhappy, if you can't shake certain emotions, then this video might offer you a fresh perspective and possibly even a solution. Based on the "molecules of emotion" section of What the Bleep Do We Know, these concepts might give you a way to change how you feel.

Three other students and myself shot this on campus on a rainy Saturday in early December. We all shot, lit and directed to some degree. I wrote the shooting script, created the slot list, and did all post production work including the editing and sound design.

This is part two of a presentation adapted from a writer seminar I taught at several conventions across the country this year. It's an amalgam of video shot at a seminar, screen captures from the Powerpoint display, video clips, still photos and voiceover. This second video takes the basic story theory I presented in part one and applies it to the writing and rewriting process. It also covers g...

In The Life: Transgender Musicians
Просмотров 22 тыс.14 лет назад
In late 1998 Kate Bornsteain called to ask if I'd like to be one of the featured transgendered musicians in a segment for a PBS show, In The Life, sort of an LGBT "60 Minutes." Their stringer met us in Hollywood for our first Los Angeles show in late 1998 before we'd moved there. They later came by our San Francisco rehearsal studio to tape the interview. I sort of regret this was in the days w...
I was born in the late 50s and grew up believing San Francisco was the archetype of class and elegance. I went to college and law school there, my grandmother lived there, my mother and several in my matrilineal line were born there. And now? Oh my.
sf fell off
I don’t understand what people are talking about. San Francisco is so much better now. The city is getting more and more beautiful. There is more to do in the city than ever before.
If you asked me about the people here today, about a quarter live in social housing, almost a third are wealthy young adults-many of them trust fund kids in their twenties-another third are self-centered tech workers more interested in disrupting things than creating jobs, and around 15% are from the LGBTQ+ community. Families are becoming rare because it's not a good place to raise kids anymore. Luckily, San Francisco can take comfort in the fact that Los Angeles looks even worse.
Now look at it...Junkies, corrupt politicians, aliens, copious numbers of mentally-ill, and the "gender and sexual non-conformists". Insanity. We need a Great Reset.
Those junkies provide jobs for thousands. What would the needle exchange and outreach workers do without them?
I was in san fran in November 2015...very beautiful. I am sad to see what it has become in 2024
I don't think I have ever been to The City without a flower in y hair, EVER!❤
Born and raised in San Francisco. Delivered the SF Chronicle in the 60's & worked at the Emporium on Market in the 70's.
After the modern theaters were biilt i felt they were chicken coops it was really awful. Ine erwd t to the movies anymore.
Before 2000, I was excited and optimistic about the future. Now 25 years later, I’ve seen the future, and it doesn’t look good. Not for average citizens.
Dave McElhatton! My parents' favorite news anchor (KPIX Channel 5) growing up in the 70s and 80s in the Bay Area. He felt like a real friend in our home.
Look at all the white people in this report…
Lol
Awesome documentary
How nostalgic! In 1958 i turned 21 and moved to San Francisco. Some of these things were still there and some were gone but still spoken of. I loved it and i loved this program.
Wow! This was just terrific! JUST WOW!
What's the redheaded lady's name?
The City Of Paris ... I take it this was before everyone in the states began vocalizing 'the French' as a supreme negative?! --- seems to me, if that amount of nasty is coming out of someone's mouth, it's THEM what is the problem.
Not your Uncle’s bathhouse.😉
Moved to San Francisco the 90s and whenever I am going downtown I put nice clothes on Ijanes Bond style
09:55 I moved to SF from the East in 1969 and this video even blows my mind. It REALLY Hurts to see what has become of that Bagdad by The Bay. I must stop watching for awhile now or I'll just keep on crying. 😢
What a beautiful city SF was. It’s a pity what has happened to it. Some people are the reason the reason that the rest of us can’t have nice things.
How did this city become such a shithole?
The gays did it. Lol
@@eunicestone6532 haha… as did Newsome and London… everything liberals touch turns to caca
Only Cher says you can turn back time! Real class was lost years ago!
I was born in 1957 I lived on 19th n York I have a vague memory of Seals Stadium . When we moved down 2 blocks on Bryant. We would watch the beer sign fill up over and over at night. Still here and sadly the city has gotten dirty
LUNCH AT BLUMS WAS VERY SPECIAL. HATS AND GLOVES ! even if you were 5 ! CITY OF PARIS at Christmas with the TREE was out of a little girls Imagination reaching through Floors of sparkles. FAO SWARTZ a must.... I showed art at Pierre Deux On Suttter when I grew up, And rhe greatest designing For Gumps. We were so Fortunate to experience THE SAN FRANCISCO, "THE CITY."
Love this, so many great memories.
The City before Leftist progressive politicians took it over and ran San Francisco into the ground. Stupid marxists couldn't run a public bathroom let alone a city.
I feel like I am watching a memorial service to a city that has died.
Thank you SO much. It's a different world now.
NOT MUCH HAUTE COUTURE @ Tenderloin in 2024 ... How embarrasing,, but not 4 the homeless industrial COMPLEX. To the folks appearing in these wayback shots, the lunatic situation of today would drive most of them either out of town, to turn to municipal terrorism or to commit suicide. Nice options 4 every truly sane ol time friscoite ! Their honor & PRIDE would nev7hhh have allowed them to mentally figure the hypocrite, current decay OUT.
Thanks for the video. Very interesting
My father, born in 1929 (may he rip) always use to talk about this San Francisco. And how the men went downtown back in the day with a hat on, & the women always had a hat & gloves on. But as we all know, nothing remains the same, people, & places evolve.
in reading the comments..... back in the day 'they' 'watched' Carol Doda as her breasts grew.... then there was the infamous exterior sign that advertised her 'new assets'............ seemed very scandalous back then.... They had a parade for Charles Lindbergh down Market Street. I also remember the hats and gloves - and the controversy when people started wearing jeans 'everywhere'.... stories in the newspaper of some wealthy person not being waited on b/c of how they were dressed.... LOL
So many great places are gone. Kocmved Oxwood. Also miss the Queen Mary in Studio city
greedy politicians
🎶I left my needle in san francisco high on a pill it calls to me🎶
San Francisco before is became San Franshitsco.
Third generation Californian from Palos Verdes in socal. We went to San Francisco once a year stayed at the stanford court and mom shopped tell we all dropped and ended the day at blums. We sat on the bench by the trolley turn table while mom and dad had an irish coffee at the buena vista. Those were the days
Beautiful clean White San Francisco. An era never to come again.
White San Francisco 🤢
I lived in the city in the 70"s and 80's. A friend told me recently not to go back, it would just break my heart.
I have a question for you about my look at ---?.
I love the old San Francisco way of talking so few talk like that anymore. My grandparents had that way of talking. sounds almost mid-atlantic from the old movies.
1:20 Amen, 5th gen native and proud of it
And to think it only took liberals 50 years to destroy this city and crush the human spirit.
I love Herb Caen, and I can only imagine San Francisco got worse in his absence. It lost its charm and its pride, both of which were epitomized in his writing. Drugs seem largely to blame, but also enormous cultural shifts in the 60's and 70's which emphasized bohemian living despite the poverty and low standards it cultivates. Bad leadership exacerbated the problem and now the only pride they have is the pride of ignorance; the pride of believing San Francisco still has its historical charm despite it being nowhere to be seen in the modern day.
15:03 - Daaamn, Sarah is HOT!!! 15:06
People with names are responsible for the demolition of all these buildings. Developers and Urban Renewal ruined cities. I doubt any locals in these towns wanted any of their town’s buildings demolished.
Watching the magnificent Fox theater being destroyed with all those incredible ornate and hand crafted art pieces and moulding being smashed was a gut punch...........and a crime. How sad. That theater was a national treasure.......
The Hippies (druggies) and the Homosexuals (MAPs) ruined this once beautiful city.
Just another reminder…. that everything wonderful, heartfelt and genuine will be destroyed and replaced by cheap, fleeting, tacky, gimmicky garbage culture.
